What Is a Simulation Learning Center?

The Simulation Learning Center (SLC) was built to provide our employees a state-of-the art learning environment. The benefits of simulation education include standardization and repetition of content, interactive learning in a clinical setting without patient risk, and the ability of the learner to develop confidence and competence.

HCA TriStar Division is the first to support division-wide professional development in HCA Healthcare. The audiovisual simulcast capabilities provide ongoing support for nurses, physicians and leaders.

The TriStar Nurse Residency Program hosts monthly education sessions in the SLC classrooms. The SLC is 13,000 square feet and houses a training center room for resuscitation classes for BLS, ACLS and PALS certification in addition to:

  • 6 classrooms
  • 9 low-fidelity simulation beds
  • 6 high-fidelity simulation rooms
  • 3 instructor control rooms
  • 2 conference rooms
  • 2 debriefing rooms

Mannequin-based simulators prepare new nurses for the transition to the hospital setting. Simulation mannequins can replicate a revolutionary level of realism and have ranging levels of fidelity and interaction:

  • Super interactive
  • Very interactive
  • Moderately interactive
  • Cardio Pulmonary
  • OB patient
  • Pediatric patient
  • Newborn patient
  • NICU patient
