Get to know Justin Laferty RN, CCRN, CEN, TCRN

Director – Simulation Learning Center

What do you do?

I oversee the day-to-day operation of the TriStar Division Simulation Learning Center, manage and coordinate the efforts of seven Nursing Professional Development Specialists and act as the American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator for the TriStar Health Training Center. I oversee the resuscitation program offerings for 10 training sites throughout TriStar.

What inspired you to work with the Nurse Residency Program?

I have a passion to teach and be involved in the future of nursing in HCA and TriStar. The opportunity to influence the next generation of nurses was an easy decision to make. We strive for excellence to support HCA and TriStar Division’s mission, vision and values. Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love seeing the “ah-ha” moment on the face of nurse residents. The very moment when we connect our “why” to the “what” is very satisfying. It's amazing to watch the nurse residents gain confidence and to show support for their development.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have a young family with whom I spend most of my extra time. I have a son, Miles, who is under a year old and a daughter, Delaney, who will turn four in the fall. My wife, Julie, and I have been married for almost eight years and we enjoy traveling to Central America as much as possible. We have been to Costa Rica four times.
