Get to know Asya Miller, RN, BSN
Nursing Professional Development Specialist
What do you do?
I am a Nursing Professional Development Specialist, so I have the opportunity to educate nurse residents during their onboarding process and during monthly sessions. I am also the Co-Chair of the Curriculum Committee for the Nurse Residency Program, so I help identify and make changes to the curriculum that help support the nurse resident’s education and growth.
What inspired you to work with the Nurse Residency Program?
Honestly, this is my dream job! I have always had a passion for education, but the heart for nursing. The opportunity to work with this program feeds every professional aspiration I have ever imagined. I also think the program will be invaluable to the next generation of HCA nurses, and I want to facilitate that excellence.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of this job is when the nurse residents come up to me after class and tell me how it influenced them. It is both humbling and exhilarating to know that the personal stories and content we have shared can change the perspective of these nurses as they grow.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am an avid reader, puppy mom, and newlywed. So, I spend my afternoons with a book and my fur babies, while my husband plays video games. I also love baking, although I haven’t had a chance to do much lately.
